Poetto, Angel Gulf

39°12.140’N 9°10.450’E

Our base in Southern Sardinia can be reached in a few minutes from Cagliari Elmas airport, and is perfectly in the center of the Golfo degli Angeli. Enclosed between Capo Spartivento in the west and Capo Carbonara in the east, it offers the opportunity to visit during your vacation almost all the most beautiful places on the southern coast.

Cagliari itself, the historical and cultural capital of Sardinia, shows itself to the visitor with its sunshine made of suggestive views. From our base in the Portus Karalis Marina you can reach the most beautiful points of the city in a few minutes on foot: the districts of Castello and Marina, the Poetto Beach and the streets of the nightlife with a Mediterranean flavor will leave an indelible mark on you.

Whether you decide to go up the island on the eastern side, or if you opt for the western one, you will meet in your path jagged coasts, islands of rare beauty and pristine coves, and you can decide whether to stop at anchor in the shelters or in the various marinas to visit the locations that we present below.

Centered on the Poetto beach, with its eight kilometers of sand and the characteristic Sella del Diavolo, the Golfo degli Angeli is the gateway to the Mediterranean and a strategic hub for tourist routes

Nora bay

38° 59.203’ N - 9°1.037’ E

We set sail towards the bay of Nora (Pula), where we can moor in front of the fascinating ancient Roman ruins or continue towards the white dunes of Chia (15 miles from Nora). An intense natural panorama, with the coastal ponds of Chia and Spartivento immediately behind the beaches, the usual areas of stop and nest of various species of water birds such as pink flamingos.

Attention: the port of Perd’e Sali, halfway between Cagliari and Pula, as it is covered up, and the port of Cala Verde, which has no draft for sailing boats, should be absolutely avoided.

Chia-Su Giudeu

38°52.797’ N - 8°51.714’ E

Also known as the spiaggia de s'Abba Durci (fresh water beach), it is a long stretch of white sand surrounded by high dunes covered with juniper trees, which, with their shapes create a particularly evocative landscape.

On the back of this stretch of coastline lies the Spartivento pond, precious natural oasis habitat for many animal species. In front of the beach of Giudeu, a short distance from the shore, there is an island within easy reach due to shallow waters that separate it from the mainland. Thanks to its special charm, this beach is often chosen as a natural backdrop for films and TV commercials.

Tuerredda

38° 53.539’ N – 8° 48.999’ E

Leaving Chia you reach the Capo Spartivento area beyond which, inside a small bay, we have the island of Tuerredda, surrounded by one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia.

Fine white sand and Mediterranean scrub with sandy bottoms that slope gently towards the islet, is a safe shelter for the night. On the beach there are services, bar and restaurant.

Cala Zafferano

38°53.455’ N–8°39.381’E

From Tuerredda Island you can sail to Cala Zafferano (8 miles), located in front of the splendid beaches of Capo Teulada. In Cala it is not possible to access the land and the site is devoid of services as it is part of the NATO military range, during the summer it is allowed to pass through the surrounding waters.

Silence reigns supreme in this inlet with a Caribbean sea and dunes colonized by junipers and myrtle trees. A few miles away is the Port of Teulada with the possibility of a galley in the nearby camping market. The port does not have a distributor, but a fuel service with cans is provided on request.

It is advisable to taste the Sardinian regional cuisine in a typical local farm: the crews are reached in the port by the off-road vehicles of the farms.

For those who want to move independently, the town of Teulada is about 5 km from the marina.

Porto Pino

38°57.574’N-8°36.004’E

Passing Capo Teulada, and Cala Piombo, we reach Porto Pino.

The bay of Porto Pino is a long sandy beach surrounded by green pines and turquoise clear sea. Shelter in case of strong northern west winds, as the wind paves the sea and the sandy bottom holds the anchor until you decide to restart your navigation.

Present in Porto Pino markets, drug stores, bakery and restaurants reachable through the channel on the right side of Punta Menga: the channel has no draft for sailing boats but is navigable through the dinghy.

Torre Cannai

38°58.037’N-8°26.405’E

Cannai Tower, in the south of the Island of S. Antioco, is an excellent refuge for mooring with the winds of the 1st and 4th quadrant. The seabed is particularly suitable for diving and snorkeling activities.

You should not go to Porto Romano in S. Antioco as it has no tourist attraction, it is also impossible to pass on the east of the island since an ancient bridge obstructs the passage of sailing boats, and the northeast is characterized by a channel not navigable by sailing yachts.

Caution: between Capo Sperone and the Isle of Vacca (Cow) there are shallow waters.

San Pietro Island

39°8.744’ N 8°19.289’E

Leaving Torre Cannai, you navigate leaving Capo Sperone on the starboard side and on the left the Isola della Vacca, with the small islet of Vitello nearby.

Warning: there is a shoal between Capo Sperone and Isola della Vacca.

Going up along the western part of the Island of Sant'Antioco there are small rocks for which navigation to the Scia Mangiabarche (with the lighthouse of the same name) is to be carried out a few hundred meters away from the cliff. Pietro is the second largest in the sulcitano archipelago. Here we find high and rocky coasts where several protected species have nested such as the Queen's hawk and the Corsican seagull

The only inhabited center of the island is the town of Carloforte, born from a colony of Ligurian fishermen from the Tunisian Tabarka. The Ligurian origin of its inhabitants is evident in the culinary traditions and in the dialect, still widely used here. The harbor is located in the city. The canal that separates the island of San Pietro from the mainland is characterized by numerous shallows
